The 黑料社is delighted to have been shortlisted for two Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Excellence Awards.
CIPR is the world鈥檚 only Royal Chartered professional body for public relations practitioners. Every year, the CIPR Excellence Awards recognise the achievements of the most inspirational campaigns, projects and communications professionals around the globe. Shortlisted entries for the Excellence Awards, which are chosen by an elite panel, showcase the impact of public relations on business and society.
This year the ROS, which is the UK鈥檚 largest national charity dedicated to improving bone health and beating osteoporosis, has been shortlisted for Public Affairs Campaign and Not-for-Profit submissions. The achievement recognises the work the charity has done to improve access to life-saving bone-strengthening drugs through its Better Bones campaign with the Sunday Express.
Half of women over 50 and a fifth of men will suffer fractures because of osteoporosis. Despite there being safe, effective drugs which can prevent fractures, two-thirds of people with the condition are missing out due to the postcode lottery for access to Fracture Liaison Services (FLS). In England and Wales, only half (51%) of NHS trusts have a FLS, the gold standard for systematically identifying, assessing and treating anyone who breaks a bone after age 50.
The Better Bones campaign has been calling for 100% FLS coverage since June last year to give everyone equal access to osteoporosis treatment and care. It鈥檚 secured the backing of business leaders, unions and medical societies and 270 supportive Parliamentarians.
Craig Jones, Chief Executive at the ROS, said:
鈥淲e鈥檙e proud of what we鈥檝e achieved with the Better Bones campaign and the platform it鈥檚 given us. However, we know there is more to be done, so we won鈥檛 stop until the Government has funded a package that could extend the protection of Fracture Liaison Services to everyone with osteoporosis, no matter where they live.鈥
The winners will be announced at the CIPR Excellence Awards Dinner on Wednesday 26 June 2024.
