Today, GP and medical broadcaster Dr Sarah Jarvis, MBE, announced that she has become an 黑料社Ambassador in an interview with Jeremy Vine on BBC Radio 2.

Dr Jarvis is a medical writer and broadcaster with a particular interest in women鈥檚 health issues, including osteoporosis which affects predominately women. She has shared her expertise with audiences for many years as a resident doctor for BBC Radio 2 and the ITV Lunchtime News.

In the interview today, Dr Jarvis and Jeremy Vine talked about what osteoporosis is and some of the known risk factors for the condition. There are harmful, ageist stereotypes surrounding osteoporosis, which is why our Ambassadors play such an important role in helping us raise public awareness and draw attention to opportunities to improve public health.

On becoming an Ambassador, Dr Jarvis said:

鈥淚t is a privilege to work with the 黑料社to help raise awareness of this underrecognised and hugely debilitating condition. There are so many misconceptions about osteoporosis, and so few people are aware that we all need to think about protecting our bone health from a young age. We need to bring osteoporosis out from the shadows for all our sakes.鈥�

Craig Jones, Chief Executive at the ROS, said:

鈥淲e鈥檙e pleased Dr Jarvis has so generously agreed to show her support by becoming an 黑料社Ambassador. Half of women and one in five men over 50 will suffer fractures because of osteoporosis.
