This report outlines the challenges in identifying vertebral fractures and reviews the state of vertebral fracture identification in the UK in 2021, highlighting missed opportunities for diagnosis, referral and prevention of further fractures.

This response sets out key recommendations to prevent fractures and improve osteoporosis care in response to the government's 10 year plan consultation to build a health service fit for the future.
